The Scorpion is a boss from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates.
Stats
Battle
Like several bosses, it has a red crystal embedded into it, which is its weak point. It has several attacks, involving simply scuttling around and knocking back the player, shooting beams from its eye, slashing with its claws, and, using its red crystal stinger. It reappears at the Crystal Temple as a normal enemy in one room and the player needs to defeat it to progress (by that time, it drops one of each of the first four magicites; fire, blizzard, thunder and cure). It has a resistance towards Holy-elemental attacks.
Strategy
A good strategy is to run quickly behind and continue attacking it. Occasionally jumping on it makes it charge its stinger, quickly move out of the way and attack the crystal when it is stuck in the ground. Avoid its attacks at all cost. Run to its rear, and let loose until the beam stops. It will also attack with its claws.

Etymology
Scorpions are predatory arachnids of the order Scorpiones. They have eight legs and are easily recognized by the pair of grasping pedipalps and the narrow, segmented tail, often carried in a characteristic forward curve over the back, ending with a venomous stinger.
