Large crustaceans that dwell in the sewers. They feed on dead bodies that are washed down into the sewers. They are rather territorial, attacking any and all intruders they see with their giant claws.
Enemy Intel
Scissorclaw is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII Remake, fought in the Sewer System in Chapter 10, "Rough Waters", and in Chapter 14, "In Search of Hope". They are large crabs that attack with their pincers and with toxic bubbles.
Stats[]
Battle[]
Scissorclaws are durable enemies that greatly resist physical damage. They mainly attack with their pincers, but can also use Putrid Discharge, where they spill floating bubbles that deal damage in contact and interrupt characters. When repeatedly attacked, they'll stay still and enter a guard stance; any direct physical attacks will cause them to counter the player and knock them down. If the player doesn't attack them for a time, they'll eventually leave the guard stance.
Much like most biological creatures, scissorclaws are weak Ice.
Strategy[]
Since they naturally resist physical damage, magic and Aerith's abilities are most effective against them; pairing the Ice Materia with Magnify Materia can be used to quickly dispatch them. Cloud or Tifa can equip Elemental Materia paired with Ice to deal weakness damage and remedy the scissorclaws' physical resistance.
When the scissorclaw enter its guard stance, the player can either ignore it and attack other enemies, or cast magic to pressure and stagger it quickly. Aerith's fully charged Tempest is particularly effective since the scissorclaws will remain still.
Hard Mode[]
On the hard difficulty, the scissorclaws are more aggressive and will use their abilities more often. They'll usually open the fight with Putrid Discharge to hit the player from a distance. They'll also enter their guard stance faster.
At this point the player has an expanded arsenal that allows physical attackers to deal magic damage to circumvent the scissorclaws' physical resistance, namely Cloud's Blade Burst and Tifa's Chi Trap; the latter is specially useful when they are readying their guard stance.

Etymology[]
The enemy's Japanese name is "Caesar Scissor". Kaiser is the German title meaning "Emperor", derived ultimately from the name of Julius Caesar. Many languages use a descendant of the word Caesar to mean "emperor", such as Russian царь (tsar) and Greek Καῖσαρ (Kaîsar).
