The Samovira is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII-2.
It appears with others of its kind or with Vodianois. Samovira have low defenses: they do not halve physical damage as Vodianoi do, and have half the HP. They can inflict status ailments on the party and status enhancements upon themselves and their allies.
Samovira should be dealt with before the Vodianoi. Although the party may see buffs on the enemy, or even debuffs on party members, they will still be killing Samovira between twice and four times as fast, because of the Vodianoi's higher HP and physical resistance. High level parties can dispatch Samovira before they can buff many Vodianoi, whether or not they have the HP to simply soak up the increased damage. Mid to low range parties should be able to stop Samovira, fully buffed, joining the Vodianoi to inflict damage on a debuffed party. Very low parties can avoid the worst fate of all: dealing with the buffs and debuffs, starting all over again.
Noel as party leader can manually use Flamestrike to take full advantage of his strength and doubled damage while raising the chain gauge. At other times, he and other Commandos will benefit more from Attack with the Commando Role bonus, which more than doubles damage. Against the Vodianoi, with their halving of physical damage, the choices become more complex.
Only Samovira and a few other creatures, such as Don Tonberry and Nekton, have Feral Links that give the Slow debuff. Slow can only be applied via Feral Links. "Heavy" debuffs do physical damage instead of the usual magic damage of Saboteur attacks.

"Samovira" is a mistranslation of "samovila". Samodivas, or samovilas, are woodland fairies found in South-Slavic folklore and mythology.
