Said to spawn from blazing flames, this dragon is the master of fire and uses Scorching Eye to boost all foes' vulnerability to fire, then incinerates them with Fiery Breath.
Salamander has three abilities: Bite deals heavy damage to a single target, Scorching Eye makes the party Fire-Weak, and Fiery Breath deals heavy fire damage to the whole party.
As with Mizuchi and Wyvern, two Black Mages and two Templars are easily capable of ending Salamander. The Templars should use Rampart whenever necessary, and Black Mages should use Blizzaga. The BP Recovery support ability is handy, recovering 2 BP whenever Salamander uses its Scorching Eye ability.
Alternatively, Ninjas can use Utsusemi in combination with the Red Mage's Turn Tables to dodge every attack and gain 1 BP when doing so. The next turn, any party members attacked will have 1 BP, so can brave to use Utsusemi and then attack. With the Ninja's high speed, they will always move before Salamander, and so be able to use Utsusemi first. The abilities Transience (counter-attack after dodging Salamander's single-target attacks) and Comeback Kid (gain an attack and magic attack buff after dodging) can be used to increase overall damage output.
