Template:FFVII Enemies Safer Sephiroth is the final boss in Final Fantasy VII. It is Sephiroth, who has become an Angel of Death. Although there is one last fight with Sephiroth after this, it is virtually scripted and is not usually counted as a battle by those who have played the game. The iconic song One-Winged Angel is played during the battle, referring to Sephiroth's right arm being replaced by a single dark wing.

Safer Sephiroth's base stats are listed in the table, but they change depending on many variables:

  • Each character at Level 99 (not counting Aeris) adds 30,000 Max HP, 2 Attack, 20 Def, 5 Magic and 16 MDef
  • Casting Knights of the Round on Jenova SYNTHESIS adds 80,000 Max HP
  • Any time Bizarro Sephiroth's head was killed during the previous fight reduces 100 Max HP up to a maximum reduction of 24,900 HP

Considering all these, Safer Sephiroth's maximum stats (within brackets in the table) are:

  • 400,000 Max HP, 246 Attack, 260 Defense, 140 Magic Power and 308 Magic Defense

Strategy

As this is the final battle, the party should go all out with their best Materia and equipment. Ribbons are practically required, and strong armor and weapons are also needed. The party should also have Ultima, Comet, and Enemy Skill Materia to help them. Mastered Restore and Revive Materia is also needed. Several Elixirs and Megalixirs also help. If the characters have their Level 4 Limit Breaks, they should be learned by now. Powerful summons are also a must.

Safer Sephiroth's opening move is to cast Wall, setting Barrier and MBarrier on himself. This cuts the damage the party does, so this should be DeSpelled right away. Following this, Safer Sephiroth casts Shadow Flare, which is a powerful singular attack, Pale Horse, another powerful single attack and Havoc Wing, a simple physical and is strong, but not as strong as his other attacks. Break and Deen inflict status ailments on the party, but their Ribbons will prevent this. Safer Sephiroth also casts a powerful spell called Heartless Angel, which will sap the HP of the party to 1, and cannot be avoided. The party should cast Cure 3 on themselves, or use a Megalixir, right away.

When Safer Sephiroth rises into the air, he becomes a Long Range enemy and is preparing for his signature attack, Super Nova. This long and powerful spell will drain the party's HP drastically, but is Gravity-elemental, so it cannot actually kill them. It also inflicts many status ailments, but again, the party should be wearing Ribbons. With the status ailments nullified, Super Nova is basically a theatrical Heartless Angel, as it similarly drains HP but cannot kill the party. So again, Cure 3 or a Megalixir can easily heal the damage.

Defensively, the party should know Cure 3 and Life 2 to heal themselves, as Safer Sephiroth's single attacks can kill them quickly and his Gravity spells weaken the party considerably. Big Guard or Wall are very helpful. On the offense, Safer Sephiroth's Gravity spells will charge the party's Limit Breaks very quickly, letting the characters unleash them quite often. If Cloud Strife has acquired his ultimate attack Omnislash, it is highly effective. Otherwise, powerful magic like Comet and Ultima are helpful. If the party has Knights of the Round, the summon can kill Safer Sephiroth in one attack.

Safer Sephiroth's empowered form when the party is at Level 99 has no new attacks, only higher stats, but the party's strength is also stronger. At such a high level, Knights of the Round can do 9999 damage a hit, times 13 hits. This works out to just under 130,000 damage for a single summon. Combined with W-Summon, which lets a character summon twice, and Mime to Mimic their actions, Safer Sephiroth, even in his strongest incarnation, can be killed in a single round.

Safer Sephiroth may use an Elixir when he gets weak, restoring himself fully, so be careful. Also, it should be noted that the only attacks of his that hit more than one character, are Heartless Angel and Super Nova, which again can only weaken the party but cannot kill them. Thus, despite his great power, Safer Sephiroth can only kill off party members one at a time with his singular attacks like Shadow Flare. So as long as everyone in the party has Life 2 and Cure 3, they should not have any trouble healing faster than Safer Sephiroth can inflict damage.
