Sadali Crysthea is the overarching main antagonist of the first arc of War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The leader and founder of the Crystal Sanctum, Sadali appears as a highly religious person spreading teachings of peace and prosperity. However, Sadali is a far more calculating individual who has instigated and controlled the wars in Ardra, to fulfill his personal ambitions, and is directly and indirectly responsible for nearly all the events in the game's first three seasons.

Originally a missionary sent to the land of Ardra to spread the teachings of his faith, Sadali traveled along his lover Exia to the isolated continent, where he would come to meet with Gilgamesh and Amnelis, who believed him to be the Bearer of Light, the person who holds the key to defeat the dreaded Realmscourge.

History[]

Event story[]

Agitator[]

In "Ep. 5: The Crystal Sanctum", Sadali introduced himself to Garvall and Velne and asked about their current situation. After Garvall and Velne shared their story with Sadali, he expressed his consternation at how Galzahk managed the Arms Dealers' Guild and their intentions. He mentioned that weaponsmiths were being pressured to produce and could not do anything of it as their livelihoods were being affected by the guild. Sadali mentioned that there may be a way for the people of Yezagh to escape further persecution. Garvall recognized Sadali's intention of overtaking the guild and asked how they would go about it. Sadali offered Garvall the services of his monks and Garvall took the monks to Galzahk's mansion. After Garvall and Velne left with the monks, "Murmur" asked Sadali about his intentions with Garvall. Sadali found it laughable that Garvall thought becoming the head of the Arms Dealer's Guild would ensure dignity for the people of Yezagh. He continued to laugh after stating the world could not be without war.

In "Ep. 7: Ambush I", Galzahk mentioned Sadali had gotten into Garvall's head with lies.

In "Ep. 10: Debt", moments before his apparent demise, Galzahk mentioned Sadali as having succeeded in what he set out to do.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Sadali is a fair-skinned middle-aged man with short black hair and brownish red eyes. Sadali dresses in clerical white robes with several layers of clothing all with different patterns. He has a golden wheel-like decoration on his left shoulder with other adornments crossing his chest tied to a blueish ribbon, which goes behind his neck with some strands of golden threads floating from the adornments. Sadali wields a book with a golden cover in his left hand and an irregularly shaped staff on his right hand with a bird motif at its top. He wears a white miter with an elongated front, and decorated with golden trinkets. He wears heeled boots.

Personality[]

To his followers, Sadali is a person of the utmost virtue, preaching ideas of peace like using the power of crystals for good and a holy figure among men. In truth, Sadali is a calculating and scheming person who tries to secure power for his church and specially for himself. Using subterfuge, manipulation and diplomacy, Sadali has shown impressive tactical ability in plunging the nations of Ardra onto warring for self-benefit. A double-faced liar, he can negotiate and mediate alliances at one moment, and then coerce one party into destroying the other in secrecy.

In almost every situation Sadali is shown to be calm, speaking in a polite manner, yet also affirming his authority when needed. No matter the situation he is almost always smiling and keeping himself composed to nigh inhuman degrees. Aware of his status, Sadali presents a fatherly and wise front to others, laced with an arrogant aura but also mixed with apparent sympathy to other's causes, which is also a means to either manipulate people to his side, or to compel outcomes that ultimately benefit Sadali under the pretense that it will aid them. Ultimately, Sadali doesn't care about his servants and is more than willing to sacrifice them, sometimes even fruitlessly and much to his indifference.

Sadali has a deep understanding of arcane magics and ancient knowledge, having stolen secrets from Gilgamesh himself. Sadali is armed with wisdom unknown to most men, which has both fueled his ambitions and the means by which he can fulfill them. He has masterful expertise regarding the Ancient Relics, which he has put to his advantage, and has hoarded them and is even hinted to be capable of mass producing them to an extent. The full extent of his goals is not fully known, although they revolve around the Realmscourge and his lover Exia. Sadali has acted defiant towards Gilgamesh despite the latter being capable of easily killing Sadali if he wanted. He opts not to, as Sadali is also included in his plans. However, Sadali's actions have caused Gilgamesh to reevaluate the need for his interference.

In his younger days, Sadali was a pious devout and the very meaning of a religious servant. A man of deep faith, and a rooted belief to spread good in the world, Sadali was a selfless missionary intending to spread true teachings of peace, and collaboration for people to live proper lives. Sadali believed in the good of people to almost naive degrees, which at times landed him in trouble. Nonetheless it was his caring, sympathetic and sincere nature which won him the hearts of the populace, even those which were hostile towards him, seeing the error of their ways and ultimately accepting Sadali as their spiritual guide. Sadali's charisma is such that it has compelled people to sacrifice themselves to shelter him from danger in times of desperation.

Sadali is deeply in love with his partner Exia, and does his utmost to keep her safe from danger. It is thanks to Exia's unconditional support on top of her precognition abilities that Sadali has been able to reach as far as he has been able to, something for which he is grateful for. While Exia is his greatest source of strength, it also proves to be his undoing in unexpected ways. Having followed with Gilgamesh's plans to stop the Realmscourge have caused them to repeatedly reset time, after tragedy befalls which often ends with with Exia hurt or worse. The repeated experiences which already take a toll on his soul, along with the trauma of seeing Exia die, deeply affected Sadali's psyche, ultimately breaking apart from Gilgamesh and becoming the manipulative sociopath he's best known in the present, using his religious foundation as his personal army to fulfill his goals regardless of the cost in innocent human lives.

Gameplay[]

Unit[]

Crystal Sanctum Founder[]

Sadali is a UR Rarity Unit of the Wind Element with a cost of 100. His main job is Crystal Sanctum Founder, while his sub jobs are Devout and Kotodama Wielder.

His Master Ability is: Increase HP (10%) for wind ally, increase wind ATK (15) for wind ally, increase AOE Resistance (10) for self, increase spirit penetration (10) for self. While his Limit Burst is Crystallite Reckoning which increases Magic Attack Resistance Penetration for self, before inflicting Large Wind Damage to one enemy with a chance to inflict the Charm status and bestow ATK/MAG buffs while under the Charm status.

Sadali's Crystal Sanctum Founder Job, especializes in both offensive tactics and support duties. His offensive attacks combine both Magic and Missile attacks which cause disruption towards his targets by interrupting casting abilities, decrease CT and AGI, as well as inflict Confusion. Sadali's support abilities cover a versatile range of buffs including ATK/MAG buffs, increasing AoE resistance for Wind allies, increasing resistance to all elements, and allow allies to remove Auto Restore and Follow Up attack buffs on enemies upon inflicting damage.

Sadali's Devout Job, focuses on buffing and healing. Allowing him to increase Wind Attack and Debuff Resist for allies. Single Target and AoE healing, as well as buff ATK/MAG/AGI of a single ally while healing them at the same time. Sadali's Kotodama Wielder is a damage oriented sub job, which allows him to deal Magic Attacks, with additional perks such as Stunning, Guaranteed Hit or moving to adjacent panel, and increase his own Jump/Move and bestow himself with a Barrier against MAG based attacks and increase his AoE resist.

Sadali's EX Job, Self-Proclaimed God upgrades his Sacred Sacrament into the Divine Sacrament skill now with a spirit penetration buff for himself. Upgrades Proselytization into Indoctrination which adds an additional AP gain reduction on enemies under Confusion. Finally he learns Immortal Dogma, which allows him to buff one of his allies with a Hate Up buff and a Reraise cast. His stat growth learns towards MAG, LUCK, DEX and HP.

Overall Sadali's unit reflects his character in game using subterfuge, suggetions and mind control to sow chaos in the battlefield by manipulating ally and foe alike. Sadali is himself fairly resistant, having innate AoE resist on top of being able to buff himself for more, and can make himself harder to defeat while equipping the Devout's Counter Cure. Sadali is, however, less adept at resisting physical attacks particularly Strike attacks. Single target attacks can easily penetrate his layers of defense, although this becomes difficult when accompanied with a Tank, especially with Immortal Dogma. Chaining AoE attacks can improve effective, since Sadali lacks other forms of survival like Courage or Reraise for himself. Healing Power debuffs also significantly affect his supportive capacities.

Missionary[]

Sadali's Missionary variant is still an unreleased unit in game, and appears mostly in cutscenes during the game's second Interval. His combat pose is based on the Energist Job.

Vision cards[]

The Four Warring Lords
The Four Warring Lords from WotV vision card

The Four Warring Lords.

Among the warring states of Ardra, there are four kings said to stand above the rest.
There is King Robb of westerly Hourne, with his vast dominion and great military might, who is known to be a broad-minded man. To the east is King Khury of Wezette, who is prudent yet high-strung and governs strictly over a frigid land, and whose kingdom has since many generations prior been in an antagonistic relationship with Hourne.
Between these two nations is Fennes to the north—ruled by the violent and bold King Muraga—and Leonis to the south—ruled by King Oelde, who has established a presence despite governing a small nation thanks to his resourcefulness and strategic ingenuity.
These four nations preserve a balance nigh miraculous, and while there has yet to be a major war to date, the equilibrium is now gradually collapsing as Lord Sadali of the Crystal Sanctum begins to take action.
