Poison in Final Fantasy XIII is a Saboteur spell.

Saboteur (ジャマー, Jamā?, lit. Jammer), abbreviated as SAB, is a recurring job in the Final Fantasy series associated with the Command Synergy Battle system.

Final Fantasy XIII[]

Saboteurs concentrate on debuffing and debilitating enemies. Fang and Vanille specialize in the role, where Fang focuses on debilitation and Vanille focuses on debuffing. Vanille's full ATB skill is the Saboteur ability, Death.

Sazh can learn all single-target Saboteur abilities, while Hope learns all area-of-effect abilities. Lightning learns all debuffing abilities, while Snow learns debilitation abilities.

Cid Raines can assume the Saboteur role when fought as a boss, where he uses Poisonga, Deprotega, Deshellga, and Dazega.

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

Saboteurs debuff and debilitate enemies and additionally reduce their maximum HP with wounding attacks. Serah can learn all debuffing abilities and both Wound spells, while Noel can only learn single-target debuffing abilities and Wound.

Debilitation abilities are exclusive to Paradigm Pack monsters. Saboteur monsters can also use physical-based abilities and a new ability, Endless Nightmare.

Lightning in the "Lightning's Story: Requiem of the Goddess" DLC scenario has a role based on the Saboteur called Sorcerer.

Etymology[]

Saboteur is someone who commits sabotage. Sabotage is a deliberate action aimed at weakening a polity or corporation through subversion, obstruction, disruption, or destruction.
