Saber (セーバー Sēbā) is an ability in the Final Fantasy series. It enhances physical damage.

Appearances

Final Fantasy

Black Wizard - SABR

Saber, also known as SABR in the NES release, is a level 7 Black Magic spell which increases the caster's Attack attribute by 16 points and the caster's Accuracy attribute by 10 points.

The spell can be bought at Onrac and can only be learned by the Black Wizard job class. In the Dawn of Souls and 20th Anniversary Edition releases it costs 25 MP to cast. It can also be cast by using the Giant's Glove as an item.

In the NES release, this spell is bugged and does nothing. In later releases where the bug is fixed, this spell is noticeably more powerful, due to its ability to stack.

Final Fantasy XII

Saber is an enemy skill that doubles the user's physical attack damage, but they also receive the same amount of damage each time they strike. The skill is typically used by tougher enemies as a desperation move. Occasionally, enemies will gain an Auto-Saber effect when their HP drops to a certain amount. Alternatively they could start with Auto-Saber but lose it when their HP drops too low.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

Illua can use Saber in all encounters to increase her own Accuracy and Attack.
