Final Fantasy Wiki

SOLDIER Moogle Class is a synergy ability in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, used by Cait Sith with Cloud Strife as a synergy partner. It costs three synergy charges each, deals magic damage to a foe with a wide area-of-effect around them, and boosts their limit level by 1, giving them new possible limit breaks. This can be boosted up to a limit level of 3 once this is unlocked from their folio.

In the ability's animation, Cloud gives his sword to Cait Sith's moogle and jumps on its back along with Cait Sith. The moogle then swings the sword at the opponent while powered up, before leaping in the air as Cloud throws it to the ground in an explosion.

Obtained[]

SOLDIER Moogle Class is unlocked on Cloud's folio, and costs 5 SP. It is available at party level 2.

Use[]

SOLDIER Moogle Class costs three synergy charges each on first use, and four on subsequent uses, and will boost Cloud and Cait Sith's limit level by 1 until they are KO'd in battle. Cait Sith's limit levels are simply better versions of his Magic Mogbox. At limit level 2, Cloud's is Ascension, and at limit level 3, it is Finishing Touch. Cait Sith and Cloud benefit somewhat from increasing their limit level, making the ability useful for them.

Both Cloud and Cait Sith also have other partner combinations to boost their limit level. Cait Sith can use Moogle Dunk Shot with Tifa Lockhart. Cloud can use Partners in Pain with Barret Wallace, Firework Blade with Aerith Gainsborough, Savage Assault with Red XIII, or Maelstrom Strike with Yuffie.

Cait Sith's higher-level limit breaks are simple flat upgrades on his normal limit break. This limit break's damage is based purely on luck, which can be improved by equipping Luck Up Materia Luck Up Materia, but is still not fully reliable as a source of damage. As such, the limit level increase normally benefits Cloud more so than Cait Sith, who can be built toward fulfilling other functions in the party.

For Cloud, increasing his limit level simply gives him stronger attacks. In lengthy battles, the extra damage from these abilities can be beneficial, especially if a foe is staggered or otherwise vulnerable. As Cloud's limit levels all deal physical damage, their usefulness will depend on how the player builds him; they are strong even if Cloud is built toward durability or magic damage but not a priority to boost his limit level, while if built toward maximum Attack Power Attack Power, it is ideal to level them as soon as possible. Performing the full attack string in Punisher Mode bestows Cloud with Berserk Berserk, boosting his attack power by 30% (normal Punisher Mode) or 40% (Prime Mode), perfect to do just before using a limit break. However, if Cloud can hit the damage cap with his lower level limit break, then leveling up his limit level is redundant. In this case, Cloud would benefit from wearing the Genji Gloves Genji Gloves.

If Expeditionary Medal Expeditionary Medal is equipped on either party member, they will start at limit level 2, meaning SOLDIER Moogle Class can only boost their level up to 3. If Enhanced Expeditionary Medal Enhanced Expeditionary Medal is equipped, they will start at limit level 3, meaning SOLDIER Moogle Class will have no effect on them; as such, the ability should only be used to boost the other's limit level, or for the damage output. Other accessories (namely Silver Brawler's Gloves Silver Brawler's Gloves, Golden Brawler's Gloves Golden Brawler's Gloves, Draconic Ring Draconic Ring, Enhanced Draconic Ring Enhanced Draconic Ring, Limit Booster Limit Booster, Transference Module Transference Module, Gi Warrior's Charm Gi Warrior's Charm, and Gotterdammerung Gotterdammerung) and Limit Support Materia Limit Support Materia can also raise the rate limit gauges increase in battle, allowing them to use their limit breaks more regularly and get more from boosting the limit level.
