Use[]

Ruin IV is an instant cast spell that deals heavy damage to a single target and splash damage to nearby enemies. While Ruin IV suffers from a 60% potency dropoff after the first hit, its naturally high potency means it is still one of the most potent AoE actions in the Summoner's arsenal. Ruin IV can only be used while the Summoner is under the effect of Further Ruin Further Ruin. Further Ruin is granted for 60 seconds upon using Energy Drain Energy Drain or Energy Siphon Energy Siphon, and is consumed upon use.

Ruin IV is best used while Dreadwyrm Trance Dreadwyrm Trance, Summon Bahamut Summon Bahamut, or Summon Phoenix Summon Phoenix are not active, as these abilities provide Summoners with other powerful instant cast spells. It should instead be used between Trances, taking priority over Ruin III Ruin III and Outburst Outburst due to its superior power and cast time. With Further Ruin's long duration, Summoners should have no problem fitting Ruin IV wherever they see fit.

As an instant cast spell that activates the global cooldown (GCD), Ruin IV can be used to weave abilities that are off the global cooldown (oGCD), such as Painflare Painflare, in between spellcasts.
