Ruin III is a Summoner Summoner spell from Final Fantasy XIV that deals damage to a single target.

Mechanics[]

PvE version
Base mechanics
  • Deals unaspected magic damage with a potency of 300 to a single target
  • Activates the global cooldown (GCD)
  • Potency is increased by 50 during Aethercharge Aethercharge

Where potency can be 300 initially, 350 during Aethercharge, or 310 with Ruin Mastery IV.

Where Time can be 1500 for cast time or 2500 for recast time.

Base mechanics

Use[]

Ruin III deals damage to a single target with no additional effects, providing steady but unimpressive damage. When fighting three or more enemies, Outburst Outburst or Tri-disaster Tri-disaster should be used instead. When there is nothing else appropriate to cast, Ruin III is the spell to fall back on.

Aethercharge increases Ruin III's potency by 50, providing a significant damage increase. Aethercharge is eventually upgrade to Dreadwyrm Trance Dreadwyrm Trance and later Summon Bahamut Summon Bahamut, during which Ruin III is replaced by the much stronger Astral Impulse Astral Impulse. When Summon Phoenix Summon Phoenix is acquired, it similarly replaces Ruin III with Fountain of Fire Fountain of Fire.

Ruin III's cast time is slightly lower than the 2.5 second global cooldown (GCD), allowing players a short window in which they can use off-global cooldown (oGCD) abilities such as Energy Drain Energy Drain between spellcasts.

PvP[]

Ruin III fills the same purpose in PvP, and is still replaced with Fountain of Fire Fountain of Fire during Firebird Trance Firebird Trance, though it loses it synergy with Dreadwyrm Trance Dreadwyrm Trance.
