Intersecting Wills: A Bouquet of Thoughts and Feelings[]

When Aerith silently rues the fact that Noctis and Luna never had the chance to experience the sylleblossoms of Tenebrae together, she strikes out on her own to try to find a bouquet for them. However, she is stopped by the Turks, who insist that she not travel unaccompanied. Aerith accepts Cissnei and Rude, but insists that Reno not join them, on account of how he had ruined her blossoms carelessly in the past. Reno demurs, instructing Reno and Cissnei to do their best to help her while staying out of her way. Rude watches over Aerith as they travel for a while before at last finding sylleblossoms blooming in the ruins of a city. They return in short order to Noctis and Luna, who are delighted by her gift. When Reno catches up with Rude and Cissnei as they witness the conversation from afar, Cissnei tells him of Aerith’s remarkable kindness and selflessness. The disciplinary committee arrives in short order to talk to Aerith, chasing the scent of flowers. She presents another bouquet of yellow flowers to a delighted Fujin. When Seifer mentions that Squall shares a similar ideal towards flowers as Aerith does, Cissnei and Rude - who were eavesdropping - arrive and suggest to her that she should offer a bouquet to him next.

Rude and Cissnei accompany Aerith as she approaches Squall and Rinoa speaking with Firion, and she presents the couple with a bouquet of yellow flowers. Firion later mentions to Aerith that he hopes to find a flower he believes himself to have forgotten. When he asks her for a favour to search for this flower, she agrees. Rude, Cissnei, and Rinoa join her in their search.

Rinoa leads Aerith and the group to a field of flowers on a sweeping plain when Firion notes that the search so far has been fruitless. The group turns to Rude, who knows this area well; but Firion mentions that the joyous experience of reaching the place has been enough for him so far. Rinoa notes that some of these flowers might be meaningful for warriors in the main group back on the airship, but they all realize that they don’t have a wagon to move them. Just then, Reno reveals himself as having secured one with the help of Zack. Aerith thanks him, albeit suspiciously, given the impeccability of his timing.

Rude and Reno watch so many warriors become reunited with the flowers they found dear, and finally watch Aerith provide a bouquet to Cissnei. Both of them take joy in the sense that they are helping Aerith make her dream come true.
