The Ruby Ring (ルビーのゆびわ, Rubī no Yubiwa?) is a recurring armor or accessory in the Final Fantasy series. Throughout the series, its purpose has changed, from protecting against status effects, to boosting stats, to buffing the equipped character.
Appearances
Final Fantasy IV
Template:Sideicon The Ruby Ring provides 3 Magic Defense, no change in Evasion (though the Nintendo DS-exclusive version grants 10 Evasion), 2 Magic Evasion, and resistance against the Pig status. It is initially equipped by Edward, and additional Ruby Rings can be bought for 1,000 gil in Troia. One can also be found in Mist, and two more in Troia Castle. They can also be dropped by Lamias and Lamia Matriarchs.
Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-
Template:Sideicon The Ruby Ring provides 3 Magic Defense, 2 Magic Evasion, and no change to Defense or Evasion. As in Final Fantasy IV, it resists the Pig status. It is initially equipped by Rydia, and additional Ruby Rings can be bought for 1,000 gil in Damcyan and Fabul. The hidden Developer's Office also holds a Ruby Ring.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years

As in Final Fantasy IV and -Interlude-, the Ruby Ring protects against Pig. It provides 3 Magic Defense, 2 Magic Evasion%, and no change to Defense and Evasion%. Ruby Rings can be bought in Mythril, Agart, Troia, Lodestone Cavern (during Palom Tale) and Mysidia for the usual price of 1,000 gil.
They are also dropped by Lamias and Lamia Matriarchs. Additional Ruby Rings can be found in Mythril during Ceodore's Tale, in the Castle Waterway during Palom's Tale, and in Palom's Challenge Dungeon.
Final Fantasy X
Template:Sideicon The Ruby Ring, is exclusive to Yuna. The Ruby Ring has four Magic Defense% abilities, altogether raising it by 38%, and as such can be created directly from a Tetra Ring, which has four slots and no abilities.
Final Fantasy XI

Final Fantasy XII
Template:Sideicon In Final Fantasy XII, the Ruby Ring replaces the more commonly seen Reflect Ring as the accessory to generate a constant Reflect status. It is found in Accessories 12 on the License Board and costs 60 LP to use. They can be bought for 8,500 gil at the Phon Coast and Mt Bur-Omisace.

ruby is a pink to blood-red colored gemstone, a variety of the mineral corundum (aluminium oxide). It is the birthstone for July.
