Rosa is a playable character in Final Fantasy IV. Her primary function is as a White Mage with high magical stats, a Pray ability to heal all members for a small amount (percentage based and including MP in the 3D releases), and access to all White Magic spells. Additionally, her ability to wield bows and her Aim ability make her a capable physical fighter, as she can fight in the back row and deals more damage against flying enemies. While bows make her a stronger physical fighter, she can also equip staves to boost her magic ability. Her armor is limited to mage equipment which has low resistance but boosts magic power and defense.

Quests[]

Main game[]

Rosa joins the party after being healed by the Sand Pearl in Kaipo. Upon commencing the battle for Fabul Castle, Golbez's abduction of Rosa removes her from the party. Reaching the top of the Tower of Zot leads to Rosa and Kain rejoining the party. Rosa is the first of Cecil's permanent party companions to stay for the remainder of the story. However, the Advance and Complete Collection versions allow the option for all party members except Cecil to be swapped in and out after the events at the Giant of Babil.

Lunar Trial[]

In the Advance and Complete Collection versions, each character has his or her own Lunar Trial. Rosa's trial focuses on using her White Magic abilities to heal injured people, culminating in a battle with Lunar Asura. Completing Rosa's Lunar Trial rewards her with the White Ring, which upgrades Pray to Miracle.

Stats[]

As a White Mage, Rosa's stats are focused in MP and Spirit. Despite that, Rosa is an adequate physical attacker. Wielding bows allows her to attack at full damage from the back row, dealing super-effective damage to flying enemies weak to arrows.

Abilities[]

As a White Mage, Rosa can cast White Magic. She learns every White Magic spell in the game, although some she learns at levels different from Porom.

Her other two abilities are Aim and Pray. Aim allows Rosa to charge up a perfectly accurate attack at the cost of executing slower, and is only usable while Rosa is equipped with a bow. Pray restores a small amount of HP to allies if successful, roughly equivalent to a Cure spell. In the 3D remake, Pray has a higher chance of success and restores both HP and MP, the amount healed based on a percentage of each party member's max HP and MP. Rosa also learns her White Magic at different levels.

In the Advance and Complete Collection releases, completing Rosa's Lunar Trial rewards her with the White Ring, which upgrades Pray to Miracle. Miracle casts Cure on a failure, Cura normally, and randomly casts Curaga and Esuna.
