Final Fantasy Wiki

Romanda is a nation state mentioned in Final Fantasy Tactics. It is a powerful military state that lies across the Rhana Strait, and is northwest of Ivalice. The player never sets foot in Romanda in-game, but it is mentioned in lore, and the Romandan Pistol weapon (presumably named for the nation state) can be obtained.

History[]

Romanda shares a royal bloodline with Ordallia.[1] During the Fifty Years' War, Ordallia's King Varoi VI, a blood relative of the Romandan nobility, called Romanda against Ivalice.[2]

The Romandan military joined the Fifty Years' War during its middle part,[3] two years after the Ivalician army had been pushed back to Zelmonia. Romanda then fought against the Ivalician forces led by Ivalice's new king, Denamda IV.[2] Among those Ivalicians who fought against Romanda were the gifted mage, Elidibus, who used several black magicks and summoning spells from ancient tomes, but disappeared when Riovanes Castle was retaken by Ivalice.[3]

Eventually, after three years fighting in the Fifty Years' War, the successes of Ivalice under Denamda IV, coupled with an outbreak of Black Death of Romanda, forced the Romandan military to withdraw from the war effort.[2]

Prince Orinus Atkascha of Ivalice later fled to Romanda as a fugitive during the War of the Lions, following the assassination of Duke Bestrald Larg.[4] During the War of the Lions, a gun known as the Romandan Pistol was at times used.
