Gilgamesh RocketPunch

Rocket Punch in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy.

Rocket Punch (ロケットパンチ, Roketto Panchi?), also known as Blast Punch, is a recurring attack in the Final Fantasy series. It usually deals physical damage to a single target.

Appearances

Final Fantasy V

Rocket Punch is an enemy ability that inflicts damage equal to half the target's HP and inflict Confuse. It is used by a variety of robotic enemies including Omega, and is also usable by Gilgamesh. The player may utilize this ability by catching and releasing a Steel Fist or Ironclad.

Final Fantasy VII

Rocket Punch is an attack exclusive to the Guardian. It deals physical damage to a target party member, and can be used twice in the same turn.

Final Fantasy X

Blast Punch is used by Defender X and Defender Z. It halves the target's HP and inflicts Delay.

Final Fantasy X-2

Blast Punch is an enemy ability used by YSLS-Zero and YSLS-99. It inflicts damage equal to 1/2 of max HP.

Final Fantasy XIII

Blast Punch is used by Alexander in normal mode. It inflicts physical damage on one opponent from long range for the cost of 1 ATB segment.

Final Fantasy XIV

Rocket Punch is an attack usable by Gilgamesh. It deals damage and inflicts confuse on the target.

Final Fantasy Legend III

Rocket is a simple attack that deals physical damage to one enemy.

Etymology

Rocket Punch is an attack often seen in television shows involving giant super robots where the robot's fist shoots out as a projectile weapon. This is the signature attack of Mazinger Z, a super robot which first appeared in the 1972 manga Mazinger Z, by Go Nagai.
