Robes (ローブ, Roobu?) are a recurring type of body armor in the series. They are often used exclusively by magic-based jobs, like the White Mage, the Black Mage, and the Summoner. Examples of recurring robes in the series are the White Robe, the Black Robe, the Luminous Robe, and the Lordly Robes.

Final Fantasy XII[]
Robes appear as mystic armor, and in the original version can be equipped by any character as long as they have purchased the necessary licenses. This is the weakest type of armor, defense-wise, but is good for mage characters, since it provides the greatest magick defense and magick power boosts. The White and Black Robes also boost certain types of elemental damage.
On the Zodiac versions, mystic armor can be equipped by the White Mage, Black Mage, Red Battlemage, and Bushi jobs.
