Template:Sideicon Risk (リスク, Risuku?) is a stat exclusive to Vagrant Story. It slowly increases during battles with enemies especially with use of chain abilities. The Risk stat affects three attributes: hit and evasion, damage and critical hits.

Chaining

Every battle ability has its own Risk value and "chaining" one battle ability with another will increase its value with another. Accordingly, every successful chain has its own Risk value, but the higher the number of chains, the higher the jump on the Risk value, as stated in the table below:

Effects

Hits and Evade

As Risk increases, the player's chance to hit with normal attacks—armed and unarmed, targeted spells and Break Arts decreases. Chances to evade also decline as Risk increases.

Damage

As Risk increases, the amount of damage received from enemy attack also increases. Damage received drops as Risk decreases, returning to normal when Risk is zero. HP recovery spells such as Heal are also more effective when Risk is high.

Critical Hits

As Risk increases, so does the player's chances to land a critical hit.

Lowering Risk

The Vera class of Items are all based upon lowering Risk. The Alchemist's Reagent and Sorcerer's Reagent both also lower Risk. The Staff Break Art "Riskbreak" also lowers Risk.
