Battle[]

The Ringmaw is a unique, larger and stronger variant of the Gorger. It is notable for their empowerement state which triggers a few seconds after battle starts, noted by an aura emanating from its body; while under these effects, all their damage is increased, and its attacks interrupt characters easier, while becoming more resistant to flinching itself. The Ringmaw can also use Burrow, where it dives underground and regenerate HP, becoming unreachable for few moments.

It also employs the same abilities as the Gorgers, with some notable differences. Feast lasts for a shorter duration but deals much more damage, in addition to being harder to interrupt, and it deals mixed physical and magic damage instead of just physical. Sickle Strike deals far more damage than its weaker counterpart, in addition to being harder to interrupt.

Much like most of the biological creatures, Ringmaws are weak to Ice Ice.

Strategy[]

The Ringmaw is a sturdier foe, often fought alongside Gorgers or other Ringmaws. While it's empowered, the player can pelt them with spells, such as Blizzard Blizzard, from a distance, since its attacks are more powerful and harder to interrupt. Feast should be interrupted with abilities or dodged. Cloud can bait their attacks while Operator Mode to deliver his counter-attacks.

Hard Mode[]

On the hard difficulty, the Ringmaw is more aggressive and stronger while in its empowered state. However, Cloud can quickly dispatch it with Triple Slash while having Elemental Materia Elemental Materia linked with Ice Materia Ice Materia.
