Ah, forgive me sir. I meant to say 'pardon me', but it came out in Al Bhed.
Rin upon stumbling into Tidus
Rin is an Al Bhed merchant and entrepreneur who runs the various travel agency chapters across Spira in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. He persuades Tidus to learn the Al Bhed language. Rin is a player of blitzball and the player can recruit him to their team in Final Fantasy X. According to the Final Fantasy X Ultimania Omega, he is 35 years old during Final Fantasy X.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Rin has long blond hair, held from falling over his face by his goggles propped up on his forehead. He wears a pale yellow open jacket with nothing underneath, and dark blitzball player's trousers and orange boots.
Personality[]
Rin is always thinking of business and starts various entrepreneurial endeavors. Rin has faith in the party as shown when he lets them pay even though Wakka explains to Rin that if they lose against Evrae they all die. If Tidus collects all Al Bhed Primers and speaks to Rin, Rin is impressed that Tidus learned Al Bhed and gives him a reward for doing so. He has a darker side in terms of viewing machina powered the Farplane energy as the future of Spira, as he reveals if Yuna points him as the one behind the Mi'ihen Highroad machina attack in Final Fantasy X-2. In the aftermath of Final Fantasy X-2, Rin gets Shinra to be part of his big project.
Story[]
Final Fantasy X[]
Rin discovered Auron ten years ago when he had been injured by Yunalesca, and offered him a place to stay for the night at the Calm Lands travel agency. By the morning Auron had already moved on. Yuna's party runs into Rin along their pilgrimage when they need to stay in Rin's travel agencies, and Rin takes an interest in Yuna's newest guardian, Tidus, encouraging him to learn the Al Bhed language. After Home's destruction, Rin is evacuated on board the Fahrenheit with his fellow brethren and declares to use the money from his business to fund Home's rebuilding.
Final Fantasy X-2[]
By the Eternal Calm, Rin redirects his funding to build "his own home". Taking advantage of the entertainment field, Rin creates Sphere Break, as a source of entertainment in Spira during the blitzball off-season, offering a dressphere as the prize. When strange things start happening on the Mi'ihen Highroad, Rin hires Yuna, Rikku, and Paine to investigate the Mi'ihen Highroad Mystery and find the culprit. The mystery can have five possible culprits: the Chocobo Eater, Rikku, Calli, the Prophet, and Rin himself.
Gameplay[]
Al Bhed Primers[]
In Final Fantasy X, Rin takes an interest in Tidus's study of the Al Bhed language, at one point offering him an Al Bhed Primer if Tidus tells him his studies are going well. Once Tidus has found all 26 primers and mastered Al Bhed, Rin will be so pleased over being able to hold a conversation with Tidus in Al Bhed that he will reward him with 99 Underdog's Secrets.
Blitzball[]
The player can recruit Rin to their team. Rin's best attributes are his PA, EN, and, after gaining sufficient experience, BL. His ideal position would be a midfielder.
