Riko Kupenreich

Feel the fury of innumerable pairs of purple wings beating as one! This...is Mogmageddon!

Riko Kupenreich

Riko Kupenreich is the final boss of the A Moogle Kupo d'Etat add-on scenario in Final Fantasy XI. He is fought in the battlefield Smash! A Malevolent Menace. Riko Kupenreich, a moneylender possessed by magicite, is agonized by the abuse moogles take in the servitude of adventurers and seeks to destroy the player.

Stats[]

Battle[]

Riko Kupenreich's regular attacks are bombs which do targeted AoE damage and cause Knockback. He does not have many special abilities, but all of them are capable of interrupting the player's ability to act for short amounts of time. He is fought in three structured phases, in between which he is able to cure.

In the first and second phase, Riko attacks until he reaches 50% HP and then retreats to the throne area to heal. During each of these phases, after taking around 25% damage, Riko will use Draw In on all players, and then execute his most devastating attack, Crystalline Flare, once.

When Riko retreats to heal, five Henchman Moogles are summoned to attack the player. Another two moogles will also appear at the throne area to repeatedly cast Cure V on him. During this time, neither Riko nor the two moogles casting cure can be damaged.

Once Riko recovers to 100% HP, or when the five moogles are defeated, he will rejoin the battle. This marks the start of the next phase.

In the third phase, Riko Kupenreich will no longer retreat at 50% HP, but will still summon the five Henchman Moogles. It should also be noted that in the final phase, Riko is able to use Crystalline Flare when he wants, but will no longer use Draw In right before it.

Although Riko Kupenreich has high HP for a battlefield boss, he takes approximately two to three times the amount of damage that is normally dealt by players. This can be advantageous for players because spells such as Drain and Aspir become far more effective for players in terms of recovery.

Special Abilities[]

  • Draw In: Draws players in
  • Bill Toss: Terror gaze
  • Crystalline Flare: AoE damage, potent stun, blind
  • Washtub: AoE damage, stun, amnesia, Bind

Music[]

The music that plays in the battlefield is "Luck of the Mog", which is featured in disc one of Final Fantasy XI Original Soundtrack - Plus. This track was also used in the trailer for A Moogle Kupo d'Etat.

Trivia[]

  • This battlefield was introduced in the July 21, 2009 Version Update. The level cap then was 75.
  • Prior to the release of the Primal moogle battle in Final Fantasy XIV, this was the first and only moogle that could be battled by players in the main Final Fantasy series.
