Fully consume user's HP, reviving and fully restoring HP of one KO'd ally.

Description

Revive is a Technick in Final Fantasy XII that sacrifices the user to revive an ally at full HP. It cannot be used on enemies. It is purchased from a shop in the original PlayStation 2 version, and is found in a treasure in the Zodiac versions. In the original version, all player characters who have the License Board can activate it. In the Zodiac versions, it is used by certain jobs.

Obtain[]

The license for Revive costs 40 License Points. In the original PlayStation 2 version, Revive is sold in Balfonheim Port for 10,000 gil.

In the Zodiac versions, the Technick is found in Paramina Rift's Spine of the Icewyrm. The treasure always appears.

In the Zodiac versions, the Revive license can be used by the job classes Uhlan, Monk, Archer, Shikari, and Knight, though the latter requires a Quickening (125 LP), Chaos, or Zodiark license to reach it.

Mechanics[]

Revive resurrects a KO'd ally at full health, but the user is KO'd instead. If used on an alive party member, Revive does nothing but kill the user. Revive cannot be used on enemies.

Use[]

The best time to use Revive would be when a character is about to die, to swap a near death character to a fully healed one. However, Phoenix Downs are generally the best revival method and easily able to be set gambits for. Other ways to revive a character from KO to full health are the Arise spell and using a Phoenix Down with all related item lores and a Pheasant Netsuke. It is useful to revive a character on full health to avoid being KO'd right after resurrection, and the other methods use up resources, whereas Revive only takes Charge Time. If two characters have Revive, one can revive the other with Revive, KO'ing themselves, and then the resurrected character can use Revive to restore the first user to full health.
