Recover from KO.
Description
Revive is a Flair/Elan in Final Fantasy IX used by Amarant, which restores the ally (Flair) or allies (Elan) from KO for a cost of 20 MP. Revive plays into Amarant's jack of all trades role in battle. Revive restores the ally to life at 20%+ of their maximum HP, depending on the ally's Spirit.
Obtained[]
Revive is learned for 35 AP from Rebirth Ring, Tiger Fangs, and Rune Claws. Rebirth Ring is rewarded in Treno for defeating Cid Fabool IX in a Tetra Master, synthesized in Daguerreo, found in the Forgotten Island chocograph treasure, and stolen from Trance Kuja. Tiger Fangs is bought from Daguerreo before going through the Shimmering Island portal, and Rune Claws is found in the final dungeon.
Mechanics[]
Revive restores a KO'd ally or allies to life. When used via Elan when Amarant is in Trance, Revive targets all allies. The ability restores health to the revived as per the following formula:
- ((Target Spirit + 20) * Target Max HP) / 100
Revive fails if the KO'd has Zombie. If Revive is used on a living party member who has Zombie, Revive kills them.
Revive cannot be used on enemies.
Use[]
Revive is a good revival ability, as it restores an ally to greater HP than revival items or Life. Eiko's Full-Life and Phoenix still trump it, however. Still, Amarant is much more durable than Eiko, and is more likely to be the last one standing after a particularly strong enemy onslaught. With his Counter and Return Magic, Amarant can still damage enemies turn-free even when he uses up his turns for supporting allies.
Amarant can also safeguard against KO with his Aura, rendering using Revive unnecessary.
