Relm: I couldn't miss the chance to practice my drawing!
This article is in need of a few pictures. Perhaps you can help by uploading a picture of the spell when it is cast, rather than while casting; Teleport and Return have the same casting animation but different animations upon completion.

Return is an ability from Final Fantasy XIV available to all characters, allowing them to quickly return to a designated location.

Use[]

Return can be used to instantly travel to an aetheryte the player character has designated as their home point. Return can be used as an alternative to Teleport Teleport or chocobo porters. By setting a frequent destination as their home point, players can bypass the gil costs accrued from constantly traveling to said location. However, Return's 15 minute recast time and single destination can be restrictive for many players.

A comical alternative to Return is the Blue Mage Blue Mage spell Self-destruct Self-destruct. Using Self-destruct will KO the player, allowing them to return to their home point free of charge. Though it does inflict minor damage to equipment, the repair costs should still be lower than what a Teleport would cost, while Self-destruct can be used every 10 minutes for a shorter recast than Return.

When used in a duty, Return will instead teleport players to the duty's start point. This can be useful for reducing travel time in duties that require a lot of backtracking, such as Haukke Manor Haukke Manor.

PvP[]

When used during frontline or rival wings duties, Return teleports players back to their base. It has no recast and can be used in combat, allowing it to be used fairly freely, though any damage taken will interrupt it. Return is particularly important in Rival Wings, where defending the base is essential in addition to the base being the only place where players can get in the mode's signature machina. Return cannot be used in The Feast The Feast, and if used in Wolves' Den Pier it will function as it does outside of PvP.
