The resize bug occurs in the PC versions of the Pixel Remaster series. It is activated by changing the monitor's native display resolution while the game is running full-screen. The bug has various effects, such as duplicating items or skipping events.
Methodology[]
The games do not allow their resolutions to be changed from the Configuration menu or their windows to be resized while running, however, the player can still change the monitor's native resolution in Display Settings while the game is running full-screen.
In general, when the display is resized, it causes the currently-displaying map to reset and the party to be placed at some "default" position. If the current map is part of a cutscene or flashback at a location different from the party's current location, the party is warped there. If an event is currently playing, the event resets to the beginning, but items the party had already obtained from it are retained.
Often after the initial warp, the map is not in a usable state. However, games in the Pixel Remaster series auto-save after every map change. Therefore, it is possible to reset the game and load the auto-save to load the map into a working state.
