Rend Shield (シールドブレイク, Shīrudo Bureiku?), also known as Shield Break, is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It generally destroys the target's equipped shield.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Shield Break is a skill level 5 Great Axe weapon skill that lowers enemy's Evasion. The duration of effect varies with TP. It will stack with Sneak Attack. It is strong against Bees, Beetles, Birds, Crabs, Crawlers, Flies, Lizards, Mandragora, Opo-opo, Pugils, Sabotenders, Scorpions, Sea Monks, Spiders, Tonberry, and Yagudo.

Final Fantasy Tactics[]

Rend Shield is an ability learned by the knight class for 300 JP, and is also used by the Nightblade class. It attempts to destroy the target's equipped shield, but does no damage. Its range depends on the user's equipped weapon.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[]

Rend Shield is an enemy ability used by the Reaver, which inflicts non-elemental physical damage to one target and has a chance of destroying the target's equipped shield.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius[]

Shield Break is an ability learned by Meliadoul at level 35 (4★), Ray Jack at level 12 (5★), Knight Delita at level 52 (5★), Balthier at level 70 (5★), Delita at level 14 (6★), and Argus. It costs 12 MP and deals 1 hit of physical damage with a modifier of 1.8x and reduces DEF by 40% for 5 turns to one enemy. Knight Delita's and Argus' versions can be upgraded to +2. When fully upgraded for Argus, it has a modifier of 70x and reduces DEF by 85% instead.
