The Remora (レモラ, Remora?) is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in Final Fantasy III. It is usually depicted as a carnivorous fish creature. It has appeared as a summoned monster and as an enemy.

Final Fantasy III[]
The Remora appears as an enemy encountered in Lake Dohr. This dungeon becomes an unrevisitable location once Leviathan is defeated and the player leaves the area in releases prior to the Pixel Remaster, making the Remora easily missable for bestiary completion. It is not a very powerful enemy otherwise, and can be defeated with a single casting of Thundara or Thundaga.
Final Fantasy V[]
The Remora appears as a level 1 summon. It casts Constrict when summoned, causing a swarm of Remoras to latch onto the target and attempt to paralyze it. It the Matrix Software release, a single large Remora appears to be the creature summoned, which in turn calls the swarm of smaller Remoras. It costs 2 MP to summon and is bought in Walse for 250 gil.
Final Fantasy X[]
The Remora appears as an enemy encountered in Via Purifico. It has a 50% chance of using Maelstrom after its counter reaches 9, which increases by 1 when attacking and when targeted, after which the counter resets. If Provoked, they will use basic physical attacks.
Final Fantasy XI[]
The Remora appears as a large fish caught in the Woh Gates. Remora is also the name of a server.
Final Fantasy XII[]
The Remora appears as a class of airship, including the first boss, the Air Cutter Remora (小型飛空艇レモラ, Ko-gata Hikūtei Remora?, lit. Small Airship Remora), in keeping with all ships in the Archadian Imperial Fleets being named for recurring summoned monsters.
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings[]
The Remora appears as an esper based on the Remora-class airship. It is the rank I thunder melee esper.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Two enemies named Remora appear. The first Remora was an orobon notorious monster that could be found in Shposhae during the original release. This Remora has not been seen since the A Realm Reborn relaunch. The second Remora is a danbania that can be encountered as a regular enemy in Elpis.

The Remora appears as a thunder-elemental esper, obtained by defeating it in battle. When summoned, the Remora casts El Nino.
Final Fantasy Record Keeper[]
The Remora from Final Fantasy III appears as an enemy, while the Air Cutter Remora from Final Fantasy XII appears as a boss. In addition, the Remora from Final Fantasy V is a dummied Summoning ability; as its own animation was not implement, it instead uses the animation for Carbuncle's Ruby Light.[1]

remora is a small species of fish, often found in association with sharks. It possesses a sucker-like disc, which it uses to attach itself onto other fish, so as to gain protection and easy food. In Latin, remora means "delay."
