WHM Thyrus

An adventurer obtained the Thyrus, the Relic weapon of White Mages from Gerolt.

Muahahaha.... MUAHAHAHAHAHA! These gods-given hands've worked yet another miracle! Feast yer eyes on Thyrus, jus' as it was in days of yore! 'Tis a sight to move a man to tears.... ye lucky bastard. Ye'd better bloody well take care of it!

Gerolt, after he successfully revived the Thyrus.

Relic Weapon is a group of weapons that require a heavy amount of work in order to upgrade and customize, but yield high rewards. Due to their high potential stats and difficulty in obtaining, Relic Weapons are often considered to be on a level of ultimate weapons, although alternatives exist for players who do not enjoy Relic grinds.

The Relic Weapons have six stages of upgrades: base form, Zenith, Atma, Animus, Novus, and Nexus. Starting with the Novus stage, players can customize the secondary stats on their weapon. Upon reaching the Nexus stage, players can transform their relic weapon into a Zodiac weapon starting with patch 2.45. Unlike many weapons, Relic Weapons cannot be equipped by classes, only by their upgraded jobs.

Relic Weapons are obtained through the quest A Relic Reborn which is accessible to the player upon completion of the main story quest. The beginning quest is The Weaponsmith of Legend, although on completion, obtaining additional Relic Weapons does not require this quest to be completed again. Gerolt is the main weaponsmith of Relic Weapons.

Stages

Broken form

The base form is unlocked through a quest with Gerolt. He instructs the adventurer to find the broken relic to return to him in Hyrstmill. After this, the adventurer must bring a specific crafted weapon, with two specific materia double-melded, varying on class, to him. This will present the player with the unfinished weapon.

Base form

After this, Alumina Salts from the Dhrome Chimera in the Trial "A Relic Reborn: Chimera" must be achieved (as the job the weapon is for). Following this, the adventurer is required to obtain a book, and must talk to Rowena in Mor Dhona, and then obtain the Amdapor Glyph from Amdapor Keep in exchange for the book Gerolt requested. 24 specific beastmen from the specific stronghold must then be killed*(Zahar'ak Lancer x8, Pugilist x8, Thaumaturge x8; U'Ghamaro Quarrymen x8, Roundmen x8, Bedesmen/Priest x8; Natalan Boldwing x8, Fogcaller x8, Swiftbeak x8; Sapsa Shelfspine x8, Shelfclaw x8, Shelftooth x8; Sylpheed Sigh x8, Screech x8, Snarl x8), and then sly Hydra (as the job the weapon is for, using the unfinished weapon).

Finally, White-Hot Ember, Howling Gale and Hyperfused Ore must be obtained by defeating Ifrit (Hard), Garuda (Hard) and Titan (Hard) respectively, all with the broken weapon equipped and as the job the weapon is for. After this, a "Bottle of Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil" must be purchased for for 110 Allagan Tomestones of Soldiery and returned it to Gerolt at Hyrstmill for the base form to be completed.
