Reflect is a White Magic spell in Final Fantasy III. It grants the Reflect effect to a target, which bounces most targeted magic against the opposing party. Reflect is usable by the White Magic skillset by default.

The second boss of Doga's Grotto and their clone can use Reflect in all versions. The Guardian boss can also use this spell in the 3D remake.

Obtained[]

Reflect can be bought for 20,000 gil at Doga's Village or from the Invincible magic shop.

The Shining Curtain item casts Reflect on the selected target in all versions. Additionally, the Knight's Save the Queen weapon casts Reflect when used as an item in battle.

It can be used by the White Mage, Devout, and Sage jobs in all versions. The Onion Knight job can also use Reflect in the 3D remake.

Mechanics[]

Pixel Remaster and 3D remakes[]

In the 3D and Pixel Remaster remakes, the spell grants the Reflect status, causing a single enemy or ally spell to bounce off the selected target. It can reflect most Black and White Magic spells usable in combat. However, it cannot reflect magic-oriented enemy abilities, such as Mega Flare. The spell can also be reflected in both remakes.

Famicom[]

In the original Famicom version, Reflect bestows a magic barrier over the target, bouncing a single enemy magic attack back at the enemy caster.

It has an initial 80% chance of granting its effect, with its probability rate increasing based on the caster's job level. The following are the Reflect probability rates from the Famicom release:[1]

Job level Probability
1 - 19 80% - 87.5%
20 - 39 86.5% - 95%
40 - 59 93% - 100%
60 - 79 99.5% - 100%
80 - 98 100%
99 100%
