Red Mages can use both white and black magic, but cannot use high-level spells from either school.

In-game description

The bearer of this certificate possesses vast, expansive knowledge of magic and is deemed worthy of the title of Master Red Mage.

Mastery certificate description

The Red Mage is a job class in Final Fantasy III gained from the Wind Crystal. In the opening FMV of the remake version, Ingus is depicted as a Red Mage. Red Mages use a wide assortment of weapons, and both Black Black and White Magic, but are unable to become true masters of either school of wizardry. Unlike the Red Mages in some other games, Red Mages in Final Fantasy III don't have Doublecast.

Abilities

NES version

  • Command ability - White and Black Magic Levels 1–4

Like the original Final Fantasy, the Red Mage can use lower level White and Black Magic. This is mainly useful early on, since later the player will unlock more versatile mage classes. They have weak stat progression, and without the ability to doublecast like in Final Fantasy V, Red Mages are usually thought to be weak.

3D remake versions

2 Aero Toad Mini 2 Thunder Poison Blind
3 Cura Teleport Blindna 3 Fira Blizzara Thundara
