Recovery items are items in the Final Fantasy series which have a healing effect, recovering the target's HP or MP, or removing status effects from the target. Almost every item of this class is recurring, such as Potions, which heal the target's wounds, Antidotes, which remove the Poison status from the target, or Tents, which are used on the world map and save points in order to fully restore the party, and the important Phoenix Down, which revives characters after being defeated in battle.

The effects of recovery items vary from game to game. For example, while an Hi-Potion heals 500 HP in Final Fantasy III, it only restores half that amount in Final Fantasy VI. Another good example is the X-Potion, which can fully restore the target's health in games like Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X, but can only restore a limited amount of HP in Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy IV. Also, the recurring ability Chemist doubles the effect of items that heal HP and MP.

The appearances of the items of this type also vary from game to game, mostly depending on the amount of status effects existing in the game itself. Recovery items appear in every game of the series.
