Being a giant entity with the power to cross the divide between this world and the spirit world. Its body is highly muscled, requiring massive amounts of energy to sustain movement, as the reaver's voracious appetite for the flesh of other creatures well attests. The horns atop its head are of incredible hardness, able to notch even adamantite. One rare occasions a reaver of exceptional strength is born, this being a high reaver, and even more to be feared than the more common variety.

Battle[]

The Reaver has a range of strong physical attacks, of which Sandstorm and Tail Swipe can hit multiple characters. It can also buff itself with Haste.

Strategy[]

The Reavers in the storyline part of the Pharos can be rendered harmless by inflicting Disable. This does not work on Reavers in the Subterra, but inflicting Sleep and then attacking with magick is an option.

This enemy is weak to earth, but the player has few ways to inflict earth damage (possible options are any bow with Artemis Arrows or any gun with Mud Shot). Alternatively, one can inflict Oil and then attack with fire-elemental damage.

Lacking the Safety augment, Reavers can be instantly killed by various methods.

Etymology[]

Reaver is an archaic term that means "to rob, plunder, or steal".

Reaver is named Apanda in the Japanese version, a reference to the Apanda in Final Fantasy V.
