Raz

Raz (ラズ, Razu?) is a non-player character from Final Fantasy XII. Being a member of Reddas's crew, along with Rikken and Elza, he is very loyal to his leader, and considers himself one of the fastest people in Ivalice. Raz is a small bangaa, and he can always be seen with a parrot on his head.

Story

Final Fantasy XII

Template:Sideicon The party first encounter Raz at Balfonheim, after talking to Reddas. He is found with Rikken and Elza, just outside Reddas's manse. Claiming to be a good judge of character, Raz inspects the party, and claims that they measure up his expectations. Elza then makes a remark about how Raz could barely measure anything, given his height. This remark does not phase Raz, indicating that exchanges like this must be common between the two of them.

After the party come back from the Pharos, Raz is surprised to hear of Reddas's death. When Elza says that Reddas had intended to kill himself all along, Raz does not accept it and says Reddas was not the kind to commit suicide. However, Elza asks Raz if he would like to upset Reddas for all eternity by worrying, which makes Raz change his tone. He then wishes his late master peace in the afterlife.

Quests

Racing

The party can challenge Rikken, Elza, and Raz for a foot race through the streets of Balfonheim any time after meeting them. Racing them only requires pressing two buttons together. Beating them gets the player Potions and curative items. At tier 100 the player gets 10,000 gil, and any tier higher than tier 30 will give them Unpurified Ethers and Elixirs. His constant tripping during the race mirrors that of Vivi in Final Fantasy IX. Raz is the fastest of all three, but he trips a lot, causing him to almost always get third or fourth.
