PSP Unknown Cave

Raqia, gateway to Heaven.

Template:Sideicon Raqia (ラキア, Rakia?), initially known as the Unknown Cave (謎の洞窟, Nazono Doukutsu?) and mistaken for the Jade Passage at first by Minwu, is a dungeon in the Dawn of Souls, PSP and iOS versions of Final Fantasy II. Here, Minwu finds Scott, Josef, and Ricard in different sections in the cave. It is identical to the Jade Passage, though it is flipped over and is given a palette swap. It is the starting point for the Soul of Rebirth mode.

Story

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

Minwu awakens in a place nearly identical to the entrance to the Jade Passage, complete with a cliff overlooking a subterranean lake. The White Mage of Fynn heads further into the cave and helps Scott defeat a group of Black Knights and Death Knights. They ascend to a higher floor and find Josef locked in combat with Borghen's undead form. After they banish the former Palamecian lackey, the three realize that they are in fact dead, and judge by their surroundings that they are in Jade.

On a still higher level, the trio help Ricard defeat a Roundworm, and with the Dragoon's alliance their party of four is complete. They travel past the underground waterfalls of the Unknown Cave, and by reaching a teleporter, are able to take refuge in the town of Machanon.

Spoilers end here.

Etymology

"Rāqîa" means "firmament" in Hebrew. According to Genesis, on the Second Day of Creation, God created the rāqîa in the midst of Heaven's water to separate it from Earth. The rāqîa was seen from Earth as the sky.

In the Talmud, Raqia (as "Raki'a") is the second level of heaven.
