Mighty warriors whose skills of devastation wear away their enemies' defenses.
Description
Raptor is a job in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift accessible to gria.
Profile[]
The job resembles an improved version of the Soldier and Warrior jobs, as it has more Speed and inflicts damage while reducing enemy parameters. The Devastation skillset can be put to good use as the secondary ability of the Hunter or Ravager.
The Raptor's stat growth is balanced while slightly lacking in MP and Magick, and even with that lack in Magick they have the highest Magick stat for any gria job (which is average), making leveling in this job the most efficient way to use the Geomancer's skills at full power. Gria being able to fly can be put to good use with Shield Bash, allowing them to knock foes perched on elevated ground off, which can result in fatal injury or leave them disabled. Strangely, while the Shield Bash attack requires the unit to be holding a shield, the Beastsword required to learn the skill is a two-handed weapon, and as such cannot be equipped alongside a shield. So unless the Raptor had previously learned Monkey Grip in order to wield the Beastsword with one hand, they would be unable to use Shield Bash until they master it and equip a different, one-handed weapon to use with a shield.

Etymology[]
Birds of prey, also known as raptors, hunt and feed on other animals. The term "raptor" is derived from the Latin word rapere (meaning to seize or take by force). These birds are characterized by keen vision that allows them to detect prey during flight and powerful talons and beaks.
The term "raptor" may also refer to a small dinosaur with the same characteristics as a bird of prey, such as the Velociraptor.
Notes[]
- ↑ The Raptor is a flying unit, so its Jump stat is irrelevant
