The Ranger, also known as Hunter or Archer, is a job class in Final Fantasy III gained from the Fire Crystal. Rangers are highly skilled in the way of archery, but can be expensive considering the need to purchase arrows. With a bow in hand and arrows readied, rangers can deal the same amount of damage from either the front line or the rear line. They can also wield boomerangs.

The Ranger from Final Fantasy III marks the series's first appearance of the Ranger/Archer class archetype, though bow and arrows existed as weapons since the previous game.

Command ability - Barrage

The Ranger will shoot four arrows at four random enemies, with each hit doing less than normal damage. This command consumes four arrows.

Arrow damage will increase as the job level increases using the following formula:

Damage~Per~Hit=Original~Damage\times Factor

Pixel Remaster version[]

Much like 3D Remake version, the Ranger will shoot four arrows at four random enemies, with each hit doing less than normal damage. Arrow damage will increase as the job level increases. However, arrows are no longer consumable in this version.
