WAR using Rampart from FFXIV

Rampart in Final Fantasy XIV.

Rampart (ランパート, Ranpāto?) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It reduces or eliminates damage from attacks.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy XI[]

Rampart is a Paladins ability, available at level 62. It grants a Magic Shield effect and enhances Defense for party members within area of effect for 5 minutes. It can be recast every 30 seconds.

Rampart also creates an amount of enmity that is comparable to Provoke, the Warrior Job ability. While this is true, Paladins would rarely if ever exclusively use an ability like Rampart to generate hate, even though they are a tank. They would still rely upon their Support Job, Warrior, for enmity-generating abilities.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Rampart is a role action available to all tanks that reduces damage taken by 20% for 20s. The level 94 trait Enchanced Rampart adds an additional effect that increases HP recovery for the duration by 15%.

Before the release of Stormblood, Rampart was a Gladiator Gladiator action with the same function. Rampart is also commonly used by gladiator enemies.
