Ragnarok summoned in Final Fantasy VI (Pixel Remaster).

Ragnarok (ラグナロック, Ragunarokku?) is a recurring summon in the Final Fantasy series. It takes on the appearance of a sword.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy VI[]

Ragnarok in iOS version.

Ragnarok is an esper, which can be grafted into the sword of the same name, though the magicite can also be used on its own. It is obtained in the weapon shop in Narshe in the World of Ruin, and needs Locke to access the shop. The owner in the back offers to hand over the magicite or refine it into the sword. If the player chooses the magicite, its summon, Metamorphose (Metamorph in the original version), transforms an enemy into an item. Its Hit Rate is dependent upon the target, and is not affected by the Vanish-Doom bug. It costs 6 MP to summon. It also teaches Ultima at a rate of x1.

During the present events of the game, the Lute of Ragnarok is now a sleeping summon devoid of power and is needed to help defeat Omega. In order for the Eidolon to be powered up once more, Eiko and Princess Sarah send Lightning to retrieve Ramuh's Judgment Staff from his granddaughter Ramewl. Etymology[]

In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a prophesied event triggered by the death of the god Balder. It sees a great battle between all the major entities of Norse mythology, during which the spirits in Valhalla are called upon to join the fray. The encounter ends with the destruction of the universe, and Balder along with a handful of others are reborn as mortals, with few memories of the world before Ragnarök.
