The Ragnarok is a greatsword in Final Fantasy XII. It has a chance of inflicting Immobilize on-hit. It is obtained from the Ixion hunt.

In the original version, its license costs 90 LP. In the Zodiac versions, its license costs 100 LP and it can be used by the Knight and the Red Battlemage, although the latter must unlock Zodiark to reach it on the License Board.

Ragnarok is a red greatsword with a dragon design. It may be intended to look similar to the red Ragnarok airship from Final Fantasy VIII, based on a legendary dragon ship.

Etymology

[view · edit · purge]In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a prophesied event triggered by the death of the god Balder. It sees a great battle between all the major entities of Norse mythology, during which the spirits in Valhalla are called upon to join the fray. The encounter ends with the destruction of the universe, and Balder along with a handful of others are reborn as mortals, with few memories of the world before Ragnarök.
