As I got to know the character more and got to work on her for longer and really start to breathe life into her, I got very attached.
Rachel Robinson on her character Oerba Yun Fang.
During auditions for Final Fantasy XIII, Robinson read for multiple roles including Lightning, Hope Estheim, and Jihl Nabaat, but she was ultimately cast as Fang. Robinson had previously heard of the Final Fantasy series but she did not fully understand it was such a "big deal". After her performance as Fang, she considers herself a fan of the series but admits that she probably wouldn't enjoy playing the games themselves because of the timesink involved.
For the role, Robinson had an Australian dialect coach with her during recording to help her match the accent the voice director intended for the character. By the time she was brought back to record lines of the sequels, she had become comfortable enough with the dialect that she no longer needed the coach there. She has stated that this role was one of the hardest and most complicated she has ever dealt with.[1]
Outside of the series, she is known for her roles as Celsius in Tales of Xillia, Vorazun in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, and Zorin Blitz in Hellsing Ultimate.
She also plays Holly Whyte in Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer.
