The Python is an enemy in the Dawn of Souls and many succeeding versions of the original Final Fantasy, bar the Android version or Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. It is likely as a homage to the Python from Final Fantasy V. It is encountered in three of the four bonus dungeons and appears in groups of three to four. It is not particularly dangerous compared to other enemies that can be encountered in the same areas.

Pythons are non-venomous snakes that reside in Africa, Asia, and Australia. Although pythons have teeth, they kill their prey by constriction, squeezing that causes asphyxiation. Several species of pythons are among the largest snakes in the world, including the reticulated python that holds the record for the world's longest snake at 10 meters.
