Use[]

Purple Pain provides Tifa the highest HP increase, making it best for durability. It also greatly increases her critical hit rate, which can improve her physical damage output to make it more on par with or above Feathered Gloves Feathered Gloves and Metal Knuckles Metal Knuckles in spite of a lower Attack Power Attack Power. The weapon provides a +10% boost to Tifa's Unbridled Strength martial attacks, a 70% chance to begin the battle with an advanced chi level without needing to use Unbridled Strength, and a boost to her limit break damage, both 5% when she is critical, and 5% normally. Another great ability for her durability is Reprieve, at Weapon Level 6, which allows her to survive otherwise fatal attacks at 1 HP.

Purple Pain provides a decent Magic Attack Magic Attack boost, which is higher than some weapons, but lower than Mythril Claws Mythril Claws or Sonic Strikers Sonic Strikers. Its main flaw in this regard is, though it provides an abundance of materia slots, only one pair of these slots is linked before Weapon Level 6. Instead, Tifa should equip Complete Materia Complete Materia with this weapon to further takes advantage of its provided attributes. For instance, if Tifa equips HP Up Materia HP Up Materia with Purple Pain, it can further increase her HP pool and put her more on par with Cloud or Barret. If given several Luck Up Materia Luck Up Materia, Tifa can increase her critical hit rate even further, allowing her to deal immense damage.

The best use for Purple Pain is to increase Tifa's durability, mitigating one of her key weaknesses (a low HP pool), as well as the critical hit rate improvement. Tifa's agility means that she survives based on avoiding damage, but improving her durability can be extremely helpful against bosses that are harder to dodge or deal high amounts of burst damage. In cases where durability is desired for Tifa, Purple Pain is her best option, and when relying on critical hits to deal immense damage, Purple Pain can be an excellent choice for her. However, Feathered Gloves or Metal Knuckles do not rely on a critical hit rate, and can be more broadly useful.
