Purple Chocobo

Template:Sideicon Template:FFXIII-2 Enemies The Purple Chocobo is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII-2. It can be dangerous if not handled carefully.

Battle

Purple Chocobo begins the battle by casting Veil, Protect, Shell, and Vigilance on itself. It will then alternate between using Entrench and an enfeebling or cure ability. While it uses Entrench, the party will not be able to deal much damage to it. Like all chocobos, it may flee from battle.

Strategy

It is recommended to set up a defensive paradigm and have a Sentinel provoke the chocobo and guard against the ensuing attack, which can knock a party member into the air and deal heavy damage. The party should then switch to an offensive paradigm and attack while the chocobo's guard is down.

A good tip is to pay attention to the chocobo's movements in battle, as right before they flee they will turn around and shake their rear. As soon as the player spots this they can press Template:PS Start button and redo the battle, as it is often faster than waiting for another one to spawn.

Paradigm Pack

The Purple Chocobo is a Synergist. Its skillset focuses primarily on augmenting the party's offense, complementing Noel's and Serah's more defensive Synergist skillset. As with most chocobos, its stat development rises slowly at first, and only accelerates once it reaches the fifth stage of its development.

At level 99, the Purple Chocobo's stats are among the highest for a Synergist, particularly its HP. Only the Yakshini has higher HP for Synergists.

The Purple Chocobo is one of the key ingredients if the player wishes to cultivate a Paradigm Pack containing only chocobos.
