The Pugilist (格闘士, Kakutōshi?, lit. Grappler) is a recurring job in the Final Fantasy series. It is a lesser form of the recurring Monk job, focusing on utilizing combat stances to enhance the user's battle performance. The job's primary weapons are claws and gauntlets.

Notable series Pugilists include Lyse Hext from Final Fantasy XIV and Lameiga from War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

The Pugilist is a Discipline of War, focusing on hand-to-hand combat. Pugilists fight using claws, fists, and gauntlets. Important characters who use this class include the Scion of the Seventh Dawn member Lyse Hext, and Hamon Holyfist.

Once the player's Pugilist class reaches level 30, the player can unlock its job form, the Monk.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia[]

Yda appears as a playable character, with a majority of her attacks being based on the Pugilist combat actions from her original game.

In reference to the class upgrade system from Final Fantasy XIV, Yda has a separate character form as Lyse, who utilizes the upgraded skillset of the Monk job.
