The psycho Cyan bug in Final Fantasy VI is the combination of two bugs involving the Bushido technique Sky, that results in the user, usually Cyan but also possibly Gogo, endlessly attacking enemies until the battle ends.

The normal behavior of Sky is that Cyan (or Gogo) uses it from his Bushido command, giving himself the unique "Sky" status. The next time the user is hit by a physical attack, he counterattacks with the Sky ability, which targets a random enemy and deals unblockable magic damage that ignores Defense. When the counterattack is triggered, "Sky" status is removed.

The first bug causes the Sky effect to counter any physical attack that occurs on the battlefield, not only one that targets the user of Sky. If Cyan is killed after using Sky, but before the counterattack is triggered, and is then revived, Cyan will attack an enemy with Sky if he or any ally or enemy is hit by a physical attack, including if Cyan himself attacks an enemy.

The second bug occurs when an Imp has the "Sky" status, which results in the status lasting indefinitely. If Cyan uses Sky and is turned into an Imp before counterattacking, he will retain the "Sky" status but is no longer able to execute the Sky counterattack. When the counterattack would be triggered, the Imp simply uses a regular attack and does not lose the "Sky" status.

When the two bugs coincide, i.e., Cyan uses "Sky", then is turned into an Imp, killed, and revived, he enters an infinite loop of attacking. Because he is an Imp, "Sky" status triggers regular attacks and never wears off, and because he was revived after being KO'd, his own attacks trigger counterattacks. The loop ends when all enemies are dead.

This bug was "fixed" in Final Fantasy VI Advance, but can still be done in a different way. After dying and being revived, Cyan or Gogo must perform Sky, and if he is an Imp he will go "psycho".

There is a bugfix patch that players can use to fix the first bug on the SNES version, which fully corrects the bug unlike in the Advance version. There is also a second bugfix patch that players can use to fix the second bug on the SNES version.

This glitch has been fixed in the 2014 and Pixel Remaster versions.
