Protect is a status in Final Fantasy IX that halves received physical damage. How long the status lasts depends on the target's Spirit and the battle speed. Those under its effect glow yellow. Its magic counterpart is Shell.
Mechanics[]
Protect mitigates damage from physical-based attacks by halving the "Bonus" during damage calculation phase.
- Status duration = Spirit * 360
The status duration takes into account Battle Speed as set in the Config, as well as the unit's speed status (Stop, Slow, Normal, Haste). The duration is calculated with the target's Spirit stat, not the caster's.
