Ring that raises Strength.

Description

The Promist Ring is a mid game add-on in Final Fantasy IX that everyone can equip. It teaches Absorb MP, which allows Quina to gain MP when hit by an enemy's spell; Mag Elem Null, which makes Vivi's spells non-elemental; and Restore HP that allows physical attackers gain health when they survive an enemy's attack when in Near Death. The Promist Ring gives a bonus to the wearer's Strength when they level up with it equipped.

Obtain[]

Promist Ring synthesis from FFIX Remastered

The Promist Ring is earliest bought from Treno Auction House for around 24,500 gil when there are no Promist Rings in the player's inventory. It becomes available after getting Blue Narciss. One is also found in Desert Palace lobby FFIX Desert Palace Lobby by examining the bloodstone. The ring is also synthesized in Daguerreo for 6,000 gil, a Chimera Armlet, and a Ruby. The Chimera Armlet is bought from Lindblum, but a Ruby is a rare item. One is obtained as part of the story, and another is obtained from Stiltzkin in the end of the game.

Mechanics[]

The Promist Ring gives +3 to physical Evasion. It gives a +2 bonus to the wearer's Strength when they level with it equipped. When enough "bonuses" upon level up from gear have been accrued, the character gains a permanent stat increase. Strength is used for damage calculations and for determining HP growth.

Use[]

Absorb MP from the Promist Ring is good for Quina to gain some MP passively when enemies attack them. Mag Elem Null and Restore HP is not very useful, however. There is only one enemy that absorbs every element (Gimme Cat) and Auto-Regen is far superior to Restore HP.

The ring's level up bonus is good but level grinding and min-maxing are unnecessary for a normal playthrough even when preparing for superboss encounters; the player can view any extra stats as simply a nice bonus. The best stat-boosting gear are available at the end of the game, and so for best stats one would need to restrict their EXP intake until near the end.
