Description
Prime Mode is an ability for Cloud in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, provided by the 
Umbral Blade. Prime Mode, once activated, makes the Punisher Mode stronger and gives a different and longer attack string. Holding the attack button and completing the entire attack sequence also gives Cloud a 10-second improved 
Berserk, boosting both the damage he deals as well as the damage he takes by 40%. Prime Mode stays active for the rest of the battle, indicated by the cerise-colored unique ability UI.

Prime Mode is provided by the umbral blade, and learned with use. Proficiency bonus is gained when Cloud finishes off enemies while Prime Mode is active.

Prime Mode upgrades Cloud's Punisher Mode for one ATB charge. In battles where Cloud expects to use his Punisher Mode often, such as against melee enemies, Prime Mode is a very worthwhile use. It is also good for longer battles, such as boss battles, where the player can expect to get more benefit from simply using 1 ATB a single time.
To open a battle with Prime Mode, players can use 
First Strike Materia or 
Chocoking's Cape to begin with ATB partially filled.
