Restores HP by 100

Description

Potion is a basic recovery item item in Final Fantasy VII that restores 100 HP to one target. It is the weakest healing item in the game, superseded by Hi-Potion, X-Potion, and Elixir. It has the opposite effect on undead enemies, damaging them for 100 HP instead.

Use[]

FFVII Potion

Potion is the basic healing item, restoring a mere 100 HP. While this is enough for the entirety of the Midgar section of the game, once the player starts getting to Costa del Sol, it starts losing use during battles. Outside of battle, it can still be used to recover HP for relatively cheap until the player can start affording Hi-Potions en masse, in which case they should use Hi-Potions for faster healing.

The player may also opt to use Potions to damage undead enemies. In general, Potions will not be stronger than the player's regular attacks, Cure, or Grenade.

Behind the scenes[]

Square Enix had struck a deal with Suntory to create a real-world "Potion" drink, as promotion for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.
