It is not a very dangerous enemy, and can be dispatched of relatively quickly with normal and [[Water (element)|Water]]-based attacks such as [[Water (ability)|Water]] and Liquid Steel.

Pop Fry is available for capture in Chapter 3 with a Trap pod L placed in [[Bikanel]]. It comes into the party already having learned Ailment Def. and Total Limit Break. It will become [[Permanently missable content|unavailable for capture]] once the player discovers the [[Cactuar Hollow]] in Chapter 5.

== Etymology==
Being akin to a pitching machine, this machina, like the Oblitzerator before it,  makes references to sports including baseball.
*Pop Fry is an alternate reading of and/or a pun on a "pop fly", a baseball hit straight up and down that is typically easily caught by a defender.
*A "benchwarmer"  is a player not often called upon to play, ergo often seen sitting in a locker room/dugout.
*A "triple play" occurs when the defending team is able to record all three of its outs in a single play.
*A "night game" is a match played during evening hours.
